Monday 3/11 – Parx Race 6
We head back home to Parx for today’s sixth race for today’s Quills Picks Winners. Today we have older horses who are non-winners of four races lifetime going six furlongs. Post time for today’s race is set for approximately 2:59 pm Eastern time.
Before I start, I do want to mention that you are a bettor who regularly plays certain tracks, take a look at the scheduled first posts, because some tracks, like Parx, do change their post times since we have more daylight each day for those that do not have lights, and because of the clocks moving forward an hour on Sunday morning.
With that, let’s take a look at today’s race. The 3 Liam’s Blue Moon is a lukewarm favorite here at 4/1. There is one place that this horse will be and that’s on the lead. She consistently gets to the front, but just can’t finish the job.
Liam’s Blue Moon could have company on the front end with the 4 Disco Devil (6/1 ML). and the 10 If We Get Lucky (6/1 ML). If some sort of a speed duel sets up on the backstretch, we can see a closer closing in this race.
The 2 Candy Man (6/1 ML) has shown consistent late energy in his last three starts, runnings in races from five and a half furlongs last time out to six and a half furlongs two back. He could be replicating his run three back which was a six furlong race that he won against non-winners of three races lifetime.
The 7 Smart and Fast (5/1 ML) could be close to the pace, but he did race off the pace at Penn National in late January before coming back to Parx and winning twice in February. He might be on the lead, but I could see him right behind the top two or three on the backstretch.
The 1 Mizzen Man (6/1 ML) draws the rail and closed well last time out. He might have to maneuver through traffic here if he were to win.
I am going to go with Candy Man here in an interesting race here to start off the late Philly Big 5 (aka Pick 5). I’ll call this 2-7-1-10 and my play is $20 to win on the 2. Good luck everyone!
