Thursday 5/23/24 – Woodbine Race 8
For the first time in 2024, we head north of the border to Toronto, Ontario where we will take a look that finale of an eight-race card at Woodbine Racetrack. Today’s race (or should I say tonight’s race?) is a maiden race for three-year-old fillies going six furlongs on their main synthetic track. Post time will be near sunset as post time for tonight’s race is for 8:20 pm Eastern time.
Favored in tonight’s race is the 3 Blameless Ghost (3/1 morning line) who runs for the first time this year after last running at Hawthorne last summer on their turf course. There appears to have been a private sale which means also a change in trainer for this race. This filly will be first time Lasix, adding to blinkers for this race, and has a dangerous combination of apprentice jokey Sofia Vives and trainer Mark Casse. Let’s also add that this filly is sired by Ghostzapper who is a superior synthetic track sire. She may want to run in longer races, which will probably come this summer, but for now, she makes her Canadian debut going 6 furlongs today.
The 9 Sinclairity (6/1 ML) makes her debut here and should be ready to fire on first asking. Sinclairity’s sire favors speed and the trainer Kevin Attard gets 26% winners with his horses running first time out. If you are a believer of these numbers, this filly is for you.
The 5 Unheard (7/2 ML) already has a race at the Woodbine meet and will be second race off of the layoff. She had late interest in her five-furlong debut three weeks ago and will have the advantage of a race under her belt.
The 4 Fulcra (12/1 ML) debuts here and could steal at least a piece here. Her sire is Old Forester who is also the sire of five-time Canadian champion sprinter Pink Lloyd.
I can’t ignore the stuff that I have seen and mentioned with the 3 Blameless Ghost. I’ll take here to win here ($20 to win) and call this race 3-5-9-4. Good luck everyone!
