Panthers’ Mike Nolan selected as UFL coach of year

Mike Nolan was named the United Football League’s coach of the year on Thursday.

Nolan has guided the Michigan Panthers to a 7-3 record in 2024, one year after the team posted a 4-7 mark during its final season of the USFL.

With Nolan at the helm, the Panthers will visit the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL conference championship game on Saturday. The winner of that contest will square off against the victor of Sunday’s clash in the XFL conference championship game between the San Antonio Brahmas and St. Louis Battlehawks.

Nolan, 65, posted an 18-37 record while coaching the San Francisco 49ers from 2005-08. In addition to the 49ers, Nolan has been on the coaching staffs of 10 other NFL franchises
