Top-seeded Heat Check Gaming and second-seeded Celtics Crossover Gaming rolled to victories on Wednesday as the bracket play in the NBA 2K League’s The Turn event got underway in Washington.
In the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Heat swept fourth-seeded Magic Gaming 2-0, and the Celtics downed third-seeded Cavs Legion GC 2-0.
The victors will square off in the Eastern Conference finals on Saturday.
The Heat opened with a 90-70 rout of the Magic behind 35 points and 10 assists from KyJuan “HoodieKy” Johnson. The Magic’s Joshua “unguardable” Hunter finished with 22 points and nine assists.
A 67-64 victory sealed the series for the Heat as Deondrick “DTrick” Leon Jr. posted 15 points and 10 rebounds. unguardable had 21 points and 10 assists.
The Celtics downed the Cavs 69-64 in the first game thanks to 24 points and 13 assists from David “Leche” Jamous. The Cavs’ Frederick “DjayTooCold” Payton scored 20 points.
The second game was a 72-57 Celtics rout as Leche again logged 24 points and 13 assists. Antoine “Antoine” Featherstone had 19 points and eight assists for the Cavs.
The Western Conference semifinals are scheduled for Friday, with top-seeded Warriors Gaming Squad facing fourth-seeded T-Wolves Gaming before second-seeded Pacers Gaming take on third-seeded Pistons GT.
The Turn, which carries a $160,000 prize pool, is the second of three tournaments that lead up to the NBA 2K League 5v5 Playoffs that run June 26-29. Last month, Warriors Gaming Squad won The Tipoff. The Turn runs through Saturday, and the final tournament, The Ticket, will be contested from Tuesday through June 22.
