Inter-Miami secures first Club Playoff victory vs Atlanta

Miami, FL.- It’s been a season to remember for Inter-Miami CF. Today certainly adds to the tale.

Tonight (October 25), Inter-Miami CF hosted the club’s first ever home playoff match at the Chase Stadium, and the product on the field certainly fit the occasion.

Inter lit the fireworks early as Luis Suarez hit the inaugural goal within the first two minutes of play. As Suarez’ shot goes in, the entirety of the colosseum erupts in joyous celebration, a mindset that wouldn’t leave the Miami faithful throughout the night.

Per usual, Inter-Miami dominated offensive attacks, controlling the possession for approximately 68% of the match. Miami looked like a completely refreshed squad then what I’ve observed throughout the regular season. They displayed high tempo, fast paced offensive attacks that kept Atlanta on their toes.

Unfortunately, shots still weren’t connecting, as Miami would find themselves standing with that lone Suarez goal at the end of the first half. Atlanta only furthered the stakes, as Saba Lobzhanidze tied the score just before half at one a piece. (39′).

Entering the second half, Miami still controlled and dominated the entirety of the match, and would finally score the go ahead goal in way of a Lionel Messi to Jordi Alba strike (60′). Alba’s shot reinvigorated the Miami crowd, causing for more raucous behavior throughout the remainder of the match.

As the final whistle blew, fireworks erupted and Inter-Miami emerged victorious at 2-1.

As all MLS Playoff series are concerned, this is a “Best of 3” matchup, and Inter-Miami will face Atlanta United again on Saturday, November 2nd.
