USF defended home court, and took firm control of the AAC, defeating state rival FAU in front of a hyped fanbase, 90-86. USF led for over 37 minutes of this game and held on to win despite a ferocious 2nd half comeback effort from FAU and 23 points from Vlad Goldin and 20 from Johnell Davis.
FAU came out of the gates with strong energy and built on it throughout the game as they defeated temple 80-68, behind the usually raucous home crowd. It was a team effort, as the Owls had 5 players score in double figures and were led by Johnell Davis who scored a quiet 17 & Alijah Martin right behind him with 16.
#23 FAU men’s basketball has game 2 of their Texas road trip on Wednesday night, as they are set to face off against Rice from Tudor Field house in Houston Texas. Earlier this week, Coach Dusty May gave his thoughts regarding who on Rice to look out for and what to expect from the other Owls.
Led by Johnell Davis, who had 34, and Alijah Martin, who had 26, FAU came back and defeated the Road Runners in Overtime 112-103.
The Crowd at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena had some special guests in addition to its raucous student section on Thursday night. Jimmy Butler, Alexsander Barkov, Nolan Schanuel, Glen Rice, and Heat Broadcaster Eric Reid were all in attendance to see the FAU Owls comeback and defeat Wichita state 86-77.
The Owls took their home court for the first time in about 2 weeks and put on a show in front of a raucous home crowd. Backed by 30 points from Johnell Davis, #24 FAU defeated UAB in a wire-to-wire effort, 86-73.
It was another edge of your seat type of game for FAU, as both the Owls and Tulane traded runs and leads back and forth for a majority of this game. But it was the battle tested Owls coming through in the end, as Alijah Martin hit 2 late free throws and lifted FAU to their first true road win of the year, 85-84 over Tulane.
AAC conference play is not going to be easy, and the Owls found out the hard way tonight. The Charlotte 49ers defended home court and upset #17 FAU 70-68.
The first half brought back memories of the FGCU loss, but the Owls didn’t let the slow start phase them. FAU outscored ECU 44-28 in the second half and used 20-point performances from both Alijah Martin and Johnell Davis to defeat the Pirates 79-64.
