FAU traveled to Philadelphia to face off against Temple (2-15, 0-8 AAC) in a match of Owls. Even though it was Philly in October the weather was almost as nice as Paradise as Florida Atlantic dominated Temple in an important road victory.
Two teams heading in opposite directions met on the pitch in Paradise to play out the contest of the Owls. Rice (11-2-2, 5-1-1 AAC) was on a four match winning streak while Florida Atlantic was on a three match losing streak. Florida Atlantic gained a valuable point and the third clean sheet of the season drawing Rice 0-0.
FAU heads to San Antonio in need of a win in week 8 against UTSA following a heartbreaking loss to UNT which dropped the Owls to 2-4.
Saturday night was one to remember for the Owls, until it wasn’t. UNT shutout FAU 14-0 over the final 4 minutes, forcing a ferocious comeback with Chandler Morris commanding the offense like a poised veteran.
The final mid-week match for the Owls in the 2024 season pitted FAU against FGCU (2-7-2, 1-1-1 ASUN). The final non-conference match for the Owls gave the team a boost of confidence heading into the final three weeks of AAC play as Florida Atlantic surged in the second half to get past FGCU 3-0.
Florida Atlantic entered the match against Wichita State (9-9, 4-2 AAC) coming off a two match losing streak. The Owls were searching for another AAC victory, and their first conference victory away from Boca Raton. FAU won the first two sets, but could not gain a third victory as they fell to the Shockers 3-2.
Florida Atlantic traveled to Tulsa (7-6-2, 3-3 AAC) in the Owls first conference match since Sept. 29. FAU could not successfully close out the road trip with points as the Owls fell 3-1 against the Golden Hurricanes.
It was all good in paradise, until it wasn’t. FAU led 37-27 with 4:21 remaining and it was looking like the Owls were closing in on their best win of the season, but then it all fell apart.
The rain clouds moved out of Paradise to create a beautiful day for soccer. The Owls took advantage of the evening, earning three points and their first AAC conference victory against the USF Bulls (4-2-4) (2-2 AAC) in front of a ten-year record crowd.
