Florida Atlantic could not stand the heat as they have their first loss of the season to Omaha. As a heat index reaching triple digits raced into the Omaha area, the game between the Owls and the Mavericks had to be pushed back to 8:00 PM EDT.
Cam Fancher has officially taken the reins at quarterback for the FAU Owls and it has been a fast rise for him from transfer, to captain, and now leader of the offense.
The Owls got their leader early in the offseason on December 22nd, and he has quickly earned the trust of the coaches and players around him, with FAU Coach Tom Herman noting his success in the spring, summer, and fall camp, while also noticing the little things he does outside of football to earn the trust of those around him.
The fast rise for him is no surprise to Cam’s beacon of support, which features his Mom April, Dad Jermaine, Step-Dad Tyrone Hogan, and siblings Cierra, Cayden, Cali, and Isaiah, who have seen him grow up into the leader he is both on and off the field, and it’s that leadership, combined with his family’s support which have led him to where he is today.
FAU has their guy. Owls Coach Tom Herman named Marshall transfer Cam Fancher a team captain and the starting Quarterback after a fierce QB battle with Tyriq Starks, one that stretched from the spring to the very end of fall camp.
After a tough loss to UCF to start the season, FAU women’s soccer had to find a way to bounce back on Sunday evening against Miami. They did that, earning a 1-1 draw, facing off against a tough opponent in Miami who was also coming off a loss.

Out of necessity the Miami Dolphins have found a new way to use former FAU WR Je’Quan Burton in today’s 13-6 preseason victory over the Commanders.
