As we prepare to wrap up the 2023-24 NFL Season, Spring Football will be right around the corner. After the insanity of last season involving both the USFL and XFL, we get some amazing news from the minds behind the success of the latest installment of the XFL, Dany Garcia and Dwayne Johnson.
Before the season started, the Pac-12 was in serious trouble. To put it mildly, they were on life support. Granted, they had ample options to right the ship before it sank. But like the Titanic, they hit a massive financial iceberg and sank to the bottom of the Pacific never to be seen or heard about again…
There were those who figured that the XFL’s third attempt at making something out of nothing would be a wash just like the first time. But let’s be real people: the second go-around was not their fault.
The photo says it all when it comes to certain key elements outside of the league in question. In the eyes of Forbes, the XFL gambled on a $60 million dollar wager and lost, while in the eyes of Sports Illustrated, Dwayne Johnson and his partners wasted $60 million on a league that is doomed to fail and will never measure up to the NFL.
The XFL was originally formed at the turn of the millennium. However, its association with WWE (mostly due to both companies being owned by Vince McMahon) led to it not being taken seriously & folded after its inaugural season in 2001. McMahon brought it back in 2020, but without the loose association to WWE.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, XFL 3.0 has been one for the ages. We have seen the awakening of the fans in DC and San Antonio, the rise of unity in St. Louis and the madhouse of when you have a winning franchise in Houston. Yes, the XFL this season has truly brought BALL OUT to the forefront.
