PSG Talon, GAM Esports stay afloat at Mid-Season Invitational

PSG Talon and GAM Esports won their respective lower bracket semifinal contests on Saturday in the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2024 in Chengdu, China.

PSG Talon swept Estral Esports after recording a 34-minute win on blue and 23-minute victory on red.

Chun-chia “JunJia” Yu of Taiwan was the MVP for PSG Talon, who will have a rematch with FlyQuest in the lower bracket final on Sunday. FlyQuest posted a 2-1 win over PSG Talon on Wednesday before being swept by T1 in the upper bracket final.

GAM Esports dropped their first map before rallying past LOUD for a 2-1 win. LOUD secured a 26-minute victory on blue before GAM responded with 39- and 36-minute triumphs on red.

GAM Esports will look to exact revenge on Sunday against Fnatic, who recorded a 2-0 sweep in their upper-bracket semifinal match on Thursday.

The $250,000 tournament began Wednesday with 12 teams competing for a $50,000 grand prize and qualification into the 2024 World Championship. The play-in stage concludes on Sunday, with the bracket stage opening Tuesday.
