FAU 7 on 7 high school tournaments
Boca Raton, FL- Throughout this week, Florida Atlantic University hosted two consecutive days of high school 7on7 tournaments.
During these tournaments, high school teams from across South Florida traveled to Paradise to compete for program supremacy. As the week concluded, Monarch High and Miami Northwestern claimed the title for their respective days, but stars were shining all over the FAU football fields,
After breaking down and reviewing film, here are my biggest winners of the FAU 7v7:
DAY 1 – FAU 7 on 7 high school tournament
Teddy Hoffmann – WR, Atlantic– The 24/7 Sports 3-Star recruit opened day 1 with a bang, making his presence felt all afternoon. The App. State commit’s route tree looked as efficient as ever, but truly specialized in redzone slants over the middle. Hoffmann’s day highlight included a dominant 4 touchdown game vs West Broward.
Lincoln Graf- QB, Atlantic– Graf had himself a day at the FAU 7v7. Lincoln’s pocket presence and read progressions have drastically improved over the off-season, which limited costly mistakes for ATL. I loved how Atlantic spread the wealth to WR’s like the aforementioned Teddy Hoffmann and Kemari Walcott, as well as their RB duo of Deandre Desinor and Dylan Ellie.
Santaluces, QB’s– There appears to be a QB battle brewing down at Santaluces. This weekend, Chiefs QB’s Jorris Shephard and Chris Siska balled out during the 7on. I Ioved what I saw from both gunslingers, and I’m very excited to see what direction Santaluces goes in the very near future.
Landon Earl- ATH, Santaluces– Once again, Landon Earl put his versatility on full display. Throughout the days, Landon lined up at every possible position on the field, taking snaps primarily at WR and RB. Landon’s tournament highlight came in way of a 3 score game against Cooper City.
Jacob Morales- ATH, John Carrol– This weekend, Jacob made himself known as a short and vertical threat on offense, dominating on all aspects of the route tree. Morales truly shined with a 2 TD game vs Santaluces, including an electric end zone jump ball grab.
DJ Manns- RB, Somerset Canyons– I loved what Manns brings to the table for Somerset’s offense. As he’s been brought into the feature back role, he pairs his impressive running ability with stable and reliable hands. During their game vs Cardinal Gibbons, DJ caught 2 TDs along with multiple clutch grabs on 3rd and short situations.
Josiah Oliver- DB, Cardinal Gibbons- Cardinal Gibbons’ star corner did not disappoint on Tuesday, as he was flying all over the field. Oliver displayed impressive field vision, as he correctly bit on numerous routes for easy PBU’s and Interceptions.
Mark Hanniford- ATH, West Boca– Hanniford has been lighting up the college 7v7 circuit. Following dominant performances at Miami and FIU, Mark continued his consistency by being called the “most productive player on both sides of the field” by his coaching staff.
DAY 2 – FAU 7 on 7 high school tournament
Kamare Williams- WR, Palm Beach Central– Williams was EASILY my day 2 MVP. There was a trend throughout the day: throw the ball up and Kamare is coming down with it. The 3-Star Arkansas commit put on a clinic, coming down with almost every jump ball thrown his way. Williams’ best performance came in way of a 3 score game against Piper.
Chance Routson- QB, Palm Beach Central– My top QB in the 561 strikes again. Following impressive performances at high major camps, Routson cooked down in Paradise. Chance paired his trust in his elite receiving core with his rocket arm by making highlight level throws every time he let go of the ball. I love the way Chance has meshed with his new weapons.
Darius Johnson- WR, Miami Northwestern– The West was on fire Wednesday, and a big part of that was due to the performance of Darius Johnson. The 3-Star Troy commit lit up the circuit recording 5 TD’s. Johnson’s speed and athleticism were on full display, which inevitably led to a Bulls Championship.
Antonio Branch- S, Miami Northwestern– What a day for the 4-Star Penn. State commit. Any team that played Northwestern feared the wrath of Antonio Branch over the top. The elite safety tallied 3 Interceptions which fortified his defense.
