Tampa Bay Downs – 12/6/2023 – Race 9
Let’s get out of the cold, raw weather of the Northeastern United States for at least for one day. The Wednesday feature is the finale on the Tampa Bay Downs card in Oldsmar, FL where my good friend Jason Beem will be on the mic for the call of today’s featured race. The ninth and final race on the card is a full-field race going 5 furlong on the turf. The weather looks fine, so I don’t think we have to worry about this race ending up on the main oval.
I am going to the outside here with the 10 Tracy Ann’s Legacy. She’s coming off of a three-month layoff. She’s a turf sprint specialist here who has four wins and two runner up finishes in six starts on the Tampa Bay green, and is 9 for 29 at this distance. She’s 9/2 on the morning line, and personally, I would be surprised that this mare will be that price when the race goes off. But I think she’s got a nice stalking trip on the outside and will pounce at the end here and win this race.
Don’t worry about the morning line favorite Sol Hope (#5, 3/1). Toss that last race at Keeneland as that was a race that was taken off the turf. She’s run well the last three times out on the turf at Colonial Downs and on the synthetic at Gulfstream Park. I’m just trying to beat her today with my top pick.
The 6 Insatiable is also first race off of a three-month layoff just like the 10, and she’s run this summer on the Monmouth Park grass. She may need a race here, but don’t be surprised if she is up there in the end. Let’s throw in the 8 Wild Army Brat for fourth here. She won on the turf at Delaware Park in October.
I am going 10-5-6-8 in the ninth and final race at Tampa Bay Downs. Good luck to everyone, and I’ll catch you Thursday at a familiar race track for this article.
