Quills Picks Winners – Sunday 4/7 – Keeneland Race 8 – Beaumont Stakes

Keeneland

By Joe Quillen

We finish up with the Keeneland hat trick with today’s eighth race which is the Beaumont Stakes, which is a Grade 2 race on the main track going about 7 furlongs. Post time for these six three-year-olds is set for approximately 4:44 pm Eastern.

Favored in this race is the 6 Youalmosthadme (1/1 morning line). She comes in off after a four-month break looking to continue her unbeaten streak at Keeneland (2 for 2 in Lexington), and she has not finished outside of the top three in all six of her starts. She returns sprinting this seven-furlong distance with many options. She could sprint here, or she could eventually end up facing some of the top three-year-old fillies later on in the year.

The 1 Denims and Pearls (7/2 ML) returns after trying the Kentucky Oaks races at Oaklawn and shortens up to this one turn race. She has won at Keeneland. She will get a dry track today  to get back on track here.

Tipsy Tammy (#3, 3/1 ML) should be the filly on the lead here. She had issues at the start of the race in a race against older females last month at the Fair Grounds. She comes back to three- year-old fillies here and could go gate to wire here with a clean start.

The 4 Chi Chi (20/1 ML) hasn’t looked great lately but she might want a new track to run at. Or maybe she is screaming for a layoff. I will hope for the former as she could be near the pace early on here.

I think Tipsy Tammy will get passed by Denims and Pearls and Youalmosthadme in the stretch. Denims and Pearls will get Youalmosthadme for the win. I’ll call this 1-6-4-3 and my play is $20 to win on the 1. Good luck everyone!
