Thursday 3/14/24 – Oaklawn Race 8
Happy Pi Day everyone! Let’s head down to Oaklawn Park for today’s eighth race, as older horses who have never won two races will sprint six furlongs. Post time for the penultimate race of the day will be at approximately 5:22 pm Eastern Time.
Favored in today’s race is the 3 Media Mogul (8/5 morning line). He has never finished worse than second in all five starts in his career and has closed well the last two races since his return. He did have to veer in near the finish last time out, but he probably was never going to get the winner a couple of weeks ago. He’s still dangerous in these same conditions.
The 6 Zambezi (2/1 ML) rallied for third last time out and likes winning this six-furlong distance. His races are basically the same, he will be wide on the turn and try to make that move from the turn to the finish line.
The 2 Code Five (12/1) did not have a good race last time out after a 14-month layoff. He needed that race, and returning as quickly as he will be today is a good sign. He looks like he could be on the lead here since there isn’t that much in the way of obvious front-running speed here.
The 8 Mo’s Treasure (15/1) does look like a horse that has one good race and then one and race. If that pattern holds true, what does that mean? Good race! Seriously, he does shorten to a sprint here after running a route after a long layoff. Toss last time out, because she should like the shorter distance and having a race under his belt will help him as well.
I’m calling this race 6-3-2-8. and my play is $20 to win on the 6. Good luck everyone, and go have some pie!
