We correctly called Bold Fortune in the New York Breeders’ Futurity at Finger Lakes, so I thought, let’s see if we can go two days in a row up there. Today, we another race with juveniles, but instead of stakes company, we have maiden fillies going six furlongs on the main track.
Finger Lakes Race 6 – Maiden Special Weight
We have a full field of twelve in today’s featured race here. Favored in today’s race is the 8 Lipan Law (7/2 morning line). She has two races under her belt, having been at the lead in her debut at Finger Lakes and then finishing second to a runaway winner 15 days later. She will be at or near the lead. But will she finish first if other fillies go with her today.
The 1 Freedom Dreams (4/1 ML) could be the filly that goes with the morning line favorite today. Or she could be ahead of her as they race down the backstretch. She was at the hip of the winner last time out and just could not get by the game winner. That experience in her debut will help her today.
The 11 Only La Duss (5/1 ML) closed well to finish third in the same Finger Lakes race as Freedom Dreams. We have interesting variables of first timers and known front runners. Could a horse like this win from off the pace today? She looks like she could make a move from off the pace here today.
The 2 Kitty of War (8/1 ML) could not hold off the winner in her debut at Delaware Park. She was seen three weeks ago there and was claimed out of a dull performance. She shows up at Finger Lakes today looking to improve off that effort.
Joe’s Pick
Yesterday, we had a gate to wire winner who shook loose early and never looked back. I think we could get that same situation here today. We all know that the races are run on the track and not on paper or in our minds.
Freedom Dreams was very game dueling all the way around the track with the winner two weeks ago. I think she is fast enough to get the lead along the rail and not be tested. Let’s call this 1-11-8-2 and my play is $20 to win on the 1. Best of luck everyone!
