Quills Picks Winners – Tuesday 4/9 – Parx Race 6

After the celestial event of yesterday’s solar eclipse, we had home to Parx for today’s sixth race. We have Pennsylvania-bred three-year-old maidens going six furlongs here. The field of seven will head to the post at approximately 2:59 pm Eastern time.

Favored in today’s race is the 2 Lucky Linus (5/2 morning line) who ran willingly and held off Easter Bet (#6, 3/1 ML) three weeks ago at Penn National. The two traded bumps down the lane, but they were not getting close to the leader that day.

The 7 Lord It’s Chilly (5/1 ML) made a move on the turn but dropped back last time out but should benefit from having a race under his belt last time out. This group looks like it won’t have a horse or two going out 10 lengths in front of the rest of the field like the last time for the seven.

The 1 Hero’s Spirit (4/1 ML) has a couple fast works on his docket and will look to take advantage of the shortest distance around the track.

I think Easter Bet will turn the tables on Lucky Linus and win this. Let’s call this 6-2-7-1 and my play is $20 to win on the 6. Good luck everyone!

Eclipse Day Review

I watched the races from Horseshoe Indianapolis’ opening day card, and though I did not make any money on the card, the simulcast coverage leading up to the rare eclipse event was amazing!

The Shelbyville, Indiana track was directly in the path of totality, and they had amazing coverage and festivities throughout the day. I was thrilled to continue to watch the simulcast feed after the final thoroughbred race and watch the track suddenly turn to night and then back to daylight as the shadow of the eclipse traveled from southwest from Texas through the heartland of America northeastward towards New England. This was an ingenious promotion that the staff of Horseshoe Indy had for an event of a lifetime.
