The Los Angeles Angels designated left-handed reliever Amir Garrett for assignment prior to Wednesday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Garrett served up a two-run homer to Alec Burleson in the seventh inning of Tuesday’s 7-6 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Garrett, 32, had a 5.06 ERA in six appearances for the Angels this season. He struck out 11 and walked five in 5 1/3 innings.
Right-hander Davis Daniel was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.
The Angels signed Garrett in late March after he was released by the San Francisco Giants.
Garrett is in his eighth major league season. He is 13-19 with a 4.95 ERA in 328 appearances (14 starts) with the Cincinnati Reds (2017-21), Kansas City Royals (2022-23) and Angels.
Daniel, who turns 27 on June 11, was 1-3 with a 5.89 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings over seven starts for Salt Lake.
Daniel went 1-1 with a 2.19 ERA in three appearances for the Angels last season.
