The Miami Marlins made 11 roster moves on Saturday, including placing right-handed pitchers Calvin Faucher and Max Meyer and outfielder Derek Hill on the injured list.
In other moves, the Marlins activated right-hander Anthony Bender (right shoulder impingement) from the 15-day IL; transferred left-hander Andrew Nardi (left elbow muscle injury) from the 15- to the 60-day IL and ended his season; optioned rookie righty Anthony Maldonado to Triple-A Jacksonville; and brought up infielder/outfielder Javier Sanoja, lefty Jonathan Bermudez and righties George Soriano and Lake Bachar from Jacksonville.
Miami also designated rookie lefty Austin Kitchen for assignment. Kitchen, 27, made his major league debut on July 30. He was 0-1 with a 14.14 ERA, three walks and four strikeouts in seven innings over four games (one start).
Faucher, 28, is 2-3 this season with six saves, a 3.19 ERA, 26 walks and 63 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings over 53 relief appearances. He went on the 15-day IL, retroactive to Thursday, because of a right shoulder impingement.
Meyer, 25, was selected by the Marlins in the first round (third overall) of the 2020 MLB Draft out of the University of Minnesota. He is 3-5 with a 5.68 ERA, 19 walks and 46 strikeouts in 57 innings over 11 starts. He went on the 15-day IL, retroactive to Wednesday, due to right shoulder bursitis.
Hill, 28, is batting .227 with four home runs and 17 RBIs in 25 games. He went on the 10-day IL, retroactive to Thursday, because of a left shoulder impingement.
Bender, 29, is 4-2 with a 4.00 ERA, 13 walks and 50 strikeouts in 45 innings over 50 relief appearances.
Nardi, 26, was 3-2 this season with a 5.07 ERA, 18 walks and 70 strikeouts in 49 2/3 innings over 59 relief appearances.
Maldonado, 26, made his major league debut on April 26. He was 0-1 with one save, a 6.75 ERA, five walks and 11 strikeouts in 16 innings over 14 games (one start).
Sanoja, who turned 22 on Tuesday, has not played in the major leagues. He was batting .291 with six homers and 58 RBIs in 11 games with Jacksonville.
Bermudez, 28, has appeared in one game for Miami, allowing six hits and two runs with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings for a 4.91 ERA.
Soriano, 25, has appeared in 19 games this season for Miami and is 1-1 with a 6.26 ERA, 10 walks and 24 strikeouts in 23 innings.
Bachar, 29, pitched in the San Diego Padres organization from 2016 until he was designated for assignment on Sunday. The Marlins claimed him off waivers on Tuesday. He pitched one inning of a game for the Triple-A Jumbo Shrimp, allowing one run and three hits.
