The Seattle Mariners placed first baseman Ty France on the 10-day injured list with a right heel fracture among a series of roster moves Sunday.
France was scratched from Saturday’s lineup after sustaining the injury when he was hit by a pitch during Friday night’s 10-9 loss at Kansas City.
France, 29, is batting .251 with seven home runs and 27 RBIs in 61 games this season. The 2022 All-Star is a career .269 hitter with 68 homers and 288 RBIs in 623 games with the San Diego Padres (2019-20) and Mariners.
Seattle called up first baseman Tyler Locklear from Triple-A Tacoma to replace France on the 26-man roster.
Locklear, 23, has yet to make his major league debut. He is hitting .293 with nine homers and 33 RBIs in 51 games this season between Tacoma and Double-A Arkansas.
The Mariners also called up right-hander Matt Bowman from Tacoma.
Bowman, 33, signed with Seattle on Tuesday after posting a 5.02 ERA with no decisions in nine relief appearances this year for the Minnesota Twins and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Seattle optioned Collin Snider to Tacoma and designated fellow right-handers Levi Stoudt and Eduardo Salazar for assignment in corresponding transactions.
