Report: OF Luis Robert Jr. set to return for White Sox

The Chicago White Sox will reinstate outfielder Luis Robert Jr. from the injured list in advance of Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Robert, 26, has been out since April 5 with a hip flexor strain. He was scheduled to bat third as the White Sox look to end an 11-game losing streak by beating their crosstown rivals.

The White Sox’s offensive trio of Robert, Yoan Moncada and Eloy Jimenez were needed to provide run production, but that group has played together just three times this season. Moncada and Jimemez also are on the IL.

In just seven games this season, Robert did have two home runs with four RBIs but had also struck out 11 times. In five major league seasons, all with the White Sox, Robert is a .278 hitter with 76 home runs and 214 RBIs.

The White Sox enter play Tuesday amid a franchise-worst 15-45 start and have the worst record in baseball just more than two months into the season.
