Former Detroit Pistons general manager Troy Weaver is set to join the front office of the Washington Wizards as a senior adviser, ESPN reported Monday.
Weaver left the Pistons after four years when the club hired Trajan Langdon as its new president of basketball operations last month. Weaver declined a position in the scouting department.
Weaver will pair up with Wizards president Michael Winger and GM Will Dawkins, with whom he worked in the Oklahoma City organization.
Under Weaver’s leadership in Detroit, the Pistons amassed a league-best $61 million in salary cap space and a roster stocked with young talent. However, the Pistons also had the league’s worst record in his four years.
Weaver is a native of the Washington, D.C., area.
