Seahawks QB Geno Smith to undergo tests on injuries

Dealing with a pair of ailments, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith will have testing done to determine their severity, coach Mike Macdonald told reporters on Thursday.

Smith, who missed the team’s last two practices, is battling hip and knee issues, ESPN reported.

“He’s working through a couple things from the other day,” Macdonald said. “But we’ll get some imaging tonight, and we’ll see.”

Macdonald said he was unsure whether Smith will practice Friday, since the team doesn’t know the extent of the injuries yet.

Smith, 33, didn’t take part in the Seahawks’ walk-through Wednesday and watched from the sideline on Thursday when the team resumed practicing in pads.

With Smith out, offseason acquisition Sam Howell — who came over in a March trade with the Washington Commanders — took first-team QB reps on Wednesday and Thursday. Former Carolina Panthers signal-caller PJ Walker is Seattle’s third-string QB.
