Saints at Texans
It’s Week 6 and your boy PlayActionReal watched the Houston Texans so you don’t have to. The Texans come back home to a crowd littered with Saints fans. After the lopsided victory against the Patriots, I thought the Saints would continue to roll.
The Texas first drive resulted in a punt after Stroud wisely threw it away. Soon after that the Saints ensuing drive resulted in a missed field goal.
C.J Stroud’s streak is over with 192 pass attempts with no interceptions. He finally threw his first interception, but quickly the Saints fumbled the ball back to the Texans. C.J. gets lucky on that drive because soon after he connects with Dalton Shultz for a touchdown 7-0.
With the ball back the next thing you know, Derek Carr, “Carved” us up on their second drive. Alvin Kamara was crucial on that drive as well to set up a Carr to Rashid Shahhed touchdown catch. That was a 34 yard grab to make it 7-7 end of 1st quarter.
The Texans answer the Saints on their next drive. C.J. Stroud found Nico Collins with a great over the shoulder catch for a 1st down. That set up a field goal to make it, 7-10 in the 2nd quarter. Next the Texans defense held up the Saints for a punt. This set up the Texans next drive for C.J. Stroud. He was great on this drive and with Devon “The Motor” Singletary rushing this time, Stroud finally hit Robert Woods for his first touchdown of the year for a 7-17 Texans lead.
The Saints next drive Derek Carr was efficient, but their drive resulted in a field goal to end the half 10-17 Texans.
To start the half, both teams traded punts. The Texans defense was looking good in that second half. For their second drive of the half the Texans relied on Schultz. They at least got 3 points with a 22 yard field goal. Their next 3 drives resulted in punts as the Saints held their own to make me scared. They picked up a field goal to make it 13-20 with 2 minutes in the 3rd quarter.
Now with all those Texans punts the Saints managed to drive down the field for a missed field goal from a little over 20 yards. Then I saw something that made me think Demeco Ryans has his defense ready. The Saints started their 5th drive of the second half with a huge 50 yard catch from Rasid Shaheed. Thankfully it ended with a turnover on downs. After a Texans punt, it’s the Saints last chance in the fourth quarter.
The Texans defense scared me in that drive. Griffin had 2 penalties and Carr did his best to throw the ball to his sideline receivers so they could stop the clock. Finally with 21 secs left Texans cornerback Nelson caught the ball out of bounds for Saints turnover to end the game.
Today was a nice 13-20 win for my Texans! Next week we are on a bye. C.J. is looking great for a rookie. Happy Sunday funday.
